These come up most, and each has a full answer already written.
- Windows says it protected your PC
- Expected, and explained in full on the download page. The installer is not signed with a paid certificate, so Windows does not recognise the publisher. It says nothing about whether the app is safe.
- Will this get my account banned
- The honest answer, including the part that is not reassuring, is in the questions. WhatsApp's terms do not allow unofficial clients, and the risk is small but real.
- Where your data actually goes
- Nowhere, unless you switch on AI sorting — and then only to the provider you chose, with your own key. Exactly what it sends →
